Ken Cameron is a Calgary-based playwright, director and all-around theatre producer. He is the author of more than fifteen plays, including the hit comedy Harvest and the alt-country musical Dear Johnny Deere which are performed across Canada.
In addition to his work as a playwright, Ken was the Artistic Director of the Magnetic North Theatre Festival, produced in partnership with the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, from 2007-2010. He served as the Executive Director of the Alberta Playwrights’ Network, a provincial service organization developing plays and educating playwrights, from 2001-2006.
Ken has worked variously as the Sponsorship Manager for the Calgary International Film Festival, Assistant Director for One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre, Administrator for a Woods Homes arts outreach program for street youth and as an instructor at the University of Calgary. Together with co-conspirator Rita Bozi Ken has founded Productive Obsession, an independent inter-arts performance company. Since its founding in 2012 our work has been presented in Calgary, Banff and Iceland.
